The Left Coast is full of kooks and they are not just limited to the protestors or liberal voters. Liberalism, the disease, has spread to officials that are just strangling the economy and people of the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. Even the local political kooks are doing their best to kill all businesses, both big and small.
The cities in Santa County are trying to mass approve individual city and town taxes on, of all things, plastic shopping bags! They are going to try to put in place a $0.25 tax on each plastic bag you use and the consumer will pay for this directly.
A weekly grocery run would increase by $% to $10!
Years ago, the environmentalist wackos persuaded the state to prohibit the use of paper bags claiming the dumps were filling up with paper despite paper recycling advertisements. Paper bags also required all those trees to be cut down and visions of denuded forests were put in our heads by the pinhead wackos. They also ignored the fact that trees were planted specifically to make paper bags and trees so planted were actually renewable resources.
This move was partially successful because the bag manufacturers figured out a way to eliminate paper sacks: plastic bags! These were actually cheaper to produce than paper bags and a lot less costly to ship and store as they are a whole lot lighter and take up a lot less room to store. There is also one other nasty fact that the cities eco-terrorists are ignoring: the plastic bags have a much smaller “carbon footprint” that the greenies love to try and shove down our throats. It is funny that the reduce-your-carbon-footprint-liberals ignore their own rules.
