Gun Control In Washington, DC

The liberals have always stated if you put in place gun control laws that prevent citizens from carrying guns for self defense and even outlaw them completely, you will have safe gun-free cities.

So take Washington, D. C. with is draconian gun laws that just about eliminate the ability to have a gun in your house, let alone defend yourself with it outside your home.

Yes, the Supreme Cort Heller decision made it possible for one or two permits to be issued so far for having a gun inside your home. It did not do much to make the city less safe, unless if you were a criminal breaking into Heller’s home.

So with all the laws you would tend to believe that the people of Washington, D. C. would be safe.

The truth be told, DC is a target-rich environment environment for gun crime.

You see, the criminals pay no attention to those laws that say you cannot own or carry a gun in the city.

A liberal that believes in restricting gun ownership was just robbed at gunpoint! No he was not in a “bad” part of the city. He was in DuPont Circle which is a nice area.

I can personally vouch that it is safe. I stayed at the Jury’s Hotel on DuPont circle during the 2005 Inauguration. Yes, I saw the the swearing in, the parades and one of the Balls.

I did observe a crime, or what should have been a crime. Someone claiming to be a Soviet diplomat (his name was really Boris as I heard the police later check him out and seemed familiar with his antics) was trying to get a young 18-year old man up to his room against his wishes.

Evidently, after a night of dinner, expensive caviar and drinks, the drunken young man did not wish to spend the evening thanking Boris in his bedroom. The police came, sent the diplomat to his room and hauled the drunk youth off to jail to sober up. He was probably safer in jail than with Boris.

Back to DuPont Circle.

A White House staff member was robbed at gunpoint!

At least Kal Penn was not injured. Let’s pray the Kal will whisper into the President’s ear that gun control does not work.
