In some of my youth I spent quite a bit of time experimenting in science. Proving that a textbook experiment about compression of gasses was completely wrong and confirming it with a live demonstration only fuelled my search for more experiments. No science book in the libraries within tem miles were left unreal, including the entire Collier’s and Britannica Encyclopedia. Read more »

I was thinking (and that can be quite dangerous in certain situations) of what to write for my 500th post at Liberal Fair.
I like racing and thought about the Daytona 500 at the Daytona International Speedway, the Indianapolis 500, and from my home state, the Pennsylvania 500. If I wrote a post on these races, I would probably get excited and breathe out more carbon dioxide than I usually do, so the races were eliminated.
For a more sedate and less carbon-producing items, I thought about playing 500, visiting memory lane by looking at an old Commodore Amiga 500 computer, or perusing the list of top 500 Green Supercomputers, but I have enough computers in my life and I like Spades, Hearts, Canasta and double-deck Pinochle a lot more.
