When I read this story, I could not help think of a scene in the Blues Brothers where John Belushi flashes a package of Chesterfield cigarettes in place of a badge.  Some comics have been known to borrow or steal ideas and use them in their acts, but Armando Iannucci took the Blues Brothers stunt a little further.
